Driver Jumps Out Of Stolen Car, Causing Crash In Springfield, Police Say

A man driving an alleged stolen vehicle in Western Massachusetts jumped out of the still-moving car when police attempted a traffic stop.

The incident took place on Saturday, Jan. 15, when Springfield Police located a stolen vehicle on Bicentennial Highway.

According to Springfield Police Spokesperson Ryan Walsh, officers located the stolen vehicle driving near Bicentennial Highway and attempted a traffic stop. 

During the stop, the driver jumped out of the still-moving vehicle, causing the car to crash, police said.

A 17-year-old passenger stayed in the vehicle. A search for the driver by K-9 units was unsuccessful, police said.
